St. Jude Catholic Church Eugene OR

St. Jude's Catholic Church in Eugene, OR welcomes people of all ages and stages:
young adults, families, seniors, and visitors alike.

Nestled on a hilltop in South Eugene, with a sanctuary enclosed on three sides by full-length glass panels, we look out at our beautiful rock garden and our 10’ tall Risen Christ, with Spencer Butte in the background.  Our Masses are blessed by the view of God's world and are often visited by His creatures - deer, birds, wild turkeys - outside our windows!

We invite you to join us for Mass | Make sure you bookmark our new website https://www.stjudeeugene.org/

"We, the people of St. Jude Parish, are a faith community who choose to come together to experience God’s love in the Roman Catholic tradition. Our fundamental mission, as a sacramental people, is to live the gospel in a way that makes us known for our love. As a diverse and inclusive Church family, we seek to provide opportunities for the growth of the whole person at all age levels and social strata. We strive to celebrate the gifts of each person, and together serve one another and our world. We invite all persons to share in our prayer, liturgical celebrations, education opportunities, social justice efforts, social activities, and Parish support. We ask God to lead us in our journey as we seek to faithfully respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ."

My brothers and sisters,

As we mourn the death of our beloved Pope, I express my deepest condolences to you all. Pope Francis was a Shepherd after the heart of Jesus. His simplicity, kindness, and compassion for the people of God and his zeal for the mission of the Church will be ever remembered and cherished. Please pray for the departed soul of our beloved Pope Francis. Eternal rest grant unto your servant Pope Francis, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We will have the Requiem Mass on Monday, the 28th of April at 6:00 pm. Please join the Mass to pray and express our love and gratitude to our Shepherd.

Fr. Francis

Dear parishioners,

I am so glad to reach out to you all through this weekly bulletin. I am so grateful to the Lord for calling me to serve St. Jude Parish in Eugene. I express my sincere gratitude to you all for giving me a warm welcome and the kindhearted support to begin my ministry here.

Today, I just want to write something about my early life, my vocation and my priestly journey etc. I was born in 1977 in the small town named Sindalacherry in the Archdiocese of Madurai in the state of Tamil Nadu. This is one of the southern states of India, surrounded by other states like Kerala, Karnataka, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh.

My home parish church is Sacred of Heart of Jesus which is based in Sindalacherry. This is one of the traditional catholic parishes in the Archdiocese of Madurai. This parish has about 3000 catholic families. This parish is richly blessed with many vocations to priesthood and religious life. This particular parish has contributed about 90 priests and about 200 hundred religious brothers and nuns to the universal church. They are all serving the Lord all over the world. I am so blessed to receive my faith in this traditional Catholic parish.

I lost my beloved parents in the year 2007-08. I have two elder sisters and an elder brother. They are all married in the church and have their children raised in the Catholic faith. I have 5 nephews and 2 nieces. 4 of the nephews and a niece got married in the church and have their children. So, I have 4 grandnieces and 5 grandnephews.

I went to the Catholic school at my home parish and was taught by the nuns of the Congregation of the Immaculate Conception. I joined the seminary in 1996, joined the Religious Order namely “Heralds of Good News” and was ordained in 2006. After my ordination, I studied my master’s degree in theology and taught in the seminary.

From 2007-09 Master’s Degree in Theology, from 2009-10 Vice Rector at Heralds Seminary, from 2010-2013 Formator and Professor at St.Joseph Seminary, from 2013-2021 Pastoral Ministry in the Archdiocese of Denver, CO, from 2021-2024 Vice Provincial of MQA Province of Heralds of Good News, 2024 – pastoral ministry at St. Jude in the Archdiocese of Portland.

This is a short introduction about my life, vocation and priestly journey. As I begin a new chapter here at St. Jude, I pray that the Lord gives me the strength to carry out this ministry of service to each one of you to the best of my ability. At the same time, I humbly request you all to keep me in your daily prayers for my spiritual journey and service to this beautiful parish in Eugene. May God bless you all!

Fr. Francis, HGN

ST. VINCENT De PAUL
We wanted to extend a warm thank you to Ceclia, the choir members, Jacquie, and her daughter Rachel for providing such beautiful music for us during holy week! Jacquie even performed a song entirely in Latin on Good Friday, and we know the rest of our choir members worked hard for their solos or to lend their voices towards helping Holy Week feel more vibrant. Thank you so much!

SVdP will be selling Fair Trade chocolate bars for $5 each after the Masses for the next two weekends. Proceeds will help support those we serve by providing basic items such as furniture, beds, and clothing. Your generous support is truly appreciated.

This April, we are collecting essential items to support the ongoing needs of families at the First Place Family Annex. Your contributions make a meaningful difference. We are kindly asking for donations of twin & queen-size sheets (new or gently used) and diapers (sizes 4 & 5). Please leave your donations in the marked container located at the back of the church. Thank you for your continued generosity and dedication to helping these families thrive!
